EXHIBITION: “ANCIENT THESPIES, A STORY OF GODS AND HUMANS”
DESIGNING AND PRODUCTION
Thanks to its geomorphology, Boeotia was a field of artistic inspiration, a sacred place of deity worship, but also a battlefield for defending or dominating its lands. Both the excavation data and the bibliographic research reveal the history of Thespies, rich in myths and events. Thus, in the first room are presented the myths, the battles, the cults, the local sculpture workshop, the presence of the Muses, and the burial customs that always bear witness to people’s perceptions and anxieties. The second room, oriented to the needs of the pupils, has been designed to be used by both teachers and parents, through specially designed educational materials and activities. All the steps of the excavation are displayed, the relevant terminology is clarified, the relevant scientific disciplines and stimuli are given for understanding and consolidating information.

EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL – MUSEUM KIT
The routine of the ancient Thespians, the 9 Muses, the battle of the Boeotian field, and the recent excavations become the main subjects for multi-sensory activities, such as memory card game, plot for role-playing, crafts etc. Students of all ages can use the educational material in the classroom, aiming of enriching “museum experience” that allows not passive browsing but a meaningful understanding of the cultural remains of human societies.
